The Tesla pattern is a polyphasic sleep pattern derived from Uberman and Dymaxion. Twenty minutes of sleep every six hours.
Who?I know of two successful adherents to this pattern - myself and a friend who started out with Dymaxion and found Tesla easier. My friend Daniel is planning to try this pattern very soon, moving from Uberman. If you know of more, or have tried this yourself, I'd appreciate hearing from you. :-)
Why?More waketime, obviously. It's also more convenient than Uberman for those with 9-5 work/school (I only need to take one nap during my school day, for example).
Why not?Mine is the only one I know of at the moment. If you have/know of a Tesla blog, I'd like to link it here, so let me know.
NotesI don't get quite the same high I got with Uberman, but the high is definitely there. Not quite as much energy as with Uberman, but still more than I had with a monophasic pattern.
The 'never-tired' phenomenon that I and others experienced with Uberman is still present - as long as I don't skip a nap.
Cognition seems unaffected using Uberman as a comparison, and changed and improved from monophasic - I think faster and creative work is a little easier. On the downside, my short-term memory seems to be a little below monophasic, but once I was past adjustment the difference was negligible.
You need to be even more vigilant about oversleeping. With Tesla, it doesn't just mess you up for a few hours. It takes days to get back to normal.
